FlyLady

Being a part of the FlyLady movement isn't a "church" thing for me, but I definitely see it as a part of my spiritual life. Essentially, being a FlyLady helps me put a sense of peace and stability in the physical side of our home through establishing daily and weekly routines for myself and my family.

The routines include prayer, home care, self care, planning and preparing meals, planning fun time, outings and dates to nurture relationships, etc. As part of the e-mail community, I receive daily reminders, tasks and inspirational messages to help keep me on track. It's a system that works for me because it combines the organizational skills I've already established with new ideas introduced on the website. FlyLady also provides encouragement to jump in and try — because "Housework done incorrectly still blesses your family."

FlyLady encourages us to drop our perfectionism in exchange for putting on our shoes, grabbing a timer, and putting our lives in order just 15 minutes at a time.

The FlyLady philosophy is based on the Sidetracked Home Executives (SHE) system to help guide you down your path of peace. One of the best parts of the system, for me, was the fact that I didn't have to buy a thing (not even the author's books) to get started. As FlyLady keeps reminding us, "You are not behind! I don't want you to try to catch up; I just want you to jump in where we are."
