Bones of the Dead
3 cups flour
2 lbs. powdered sugar
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. cinnamon
4 eggs
1 tsp anise oil
water as needed
- Sift together flour, powdered sugar, baking powder and cinnamon.
- Slightly beat the eggs. Add eggs and anise oil to the dry ingredients.
- Mix thoroughly, adding a little water, if necessary, to make a very stiff dough.
- Roll dough out onto floured board. Form into 1-inch diameter rolls. Cut into 2-inch logs.
- Leave them uncovered on a board overnight.
- The next morning, place them on a floured cookie sheet, 12 at a time.
- Bake at 325° for 12 minutes.
- Removed from pan at once to cool on a cloth.
