Oatmeal Cookies




3/4 cup softened butter
1 cup brown sugar, packed
1/2 cup sugar
1 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. ground cloves
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1-3/4 cup flour
2 cups rolled oats

Makes about 4 dozen cookies


  1. Preheat oven to 375°
  2. Cream butter, brown sugar and sugar.
  3. Add baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon and cloves.
  4. Beat in eggs and vanilla.
  5. Beat in as much flour as you can with the mixer. Then stir in the remaining flour and oats.
  6. Drop by rounded teaspoons 2 inches apart on an ungreased cookie sheet.
  7. Bake for about 8 minutes or until edges are golden.
  8. Cool on cookie sheets for 1 minute, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
