Russian Tea Cakes
Bugar Balls




1 cup softened butter
1/2 cup sifted powdered sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
2-1/4 cups sifted flour
1/4 tsp. salt
3/4 cup chopped nuts
additional powdered sugar to coat baked cookies

Makes about four dozen 1-1/2" cookies.


  1. Preheat oven to 400°.
  2. Cream butter, sugar and vanilla.
  3. Sift together flour and salt. Stir into creamed mixture.
  4. Add nuts.
  5. Chill the dough.
  6. Roll into 1 inch balls. Place them 2-1/2 inches apart on an ungreased cookie sheet.
  7. Bake until set, but not brown.
  8. While still warm, roll the balls in powdered sugar.
  9. Cool completely.
  10. Roll in powdered sugar again.
