Mitten Ornaments

Mitten Ornaments
This year I wanted to be sure to get the ornaments done in time! So instead of cross-stitched ornaments, I made these mittens. But they were hand made.

I think I made about 25 of these little mitten ornaments. They were made with many shades of felt. Most had the striped hearts. I used a buttonhole stitch around the appliqued heart. Buttonhole stitch also holds the two sides of the mittens together. The varied laces are sewn to the cuff of the mitten. Then I added the satin or gros grain ribbon hangers, the plaid bows and the buttons.

It was pretty neat to see all these little mittens lined up before I gave them away. These five were kept for my family, with goodies slipped inside.

I didn't have a paper pattern for these mittens. I received a similar ornament from a friend the year before, and adapted the idea it to my needs.
