One of the gals in my needlework finishing group had some photos of these adorable chicks on her website. They crack me up! So I asked her where she learned to make them. She gave me this German website:
I used the Google translator so I could read the German site in English. It was a reliable enough translation that I could follow the directions. Very simple! I used some twisted cord for the legs on this one, but I've seen them made with pipe cleaner (chenille stem) legs, too. That way the legs can be easily posed. I made this little chick in about an hour. He's about the size of a golf ball. Now that I know how to construct it, I just may make my own flock. They sure are fast and fun! I suppose I could call them ornaments ... turn them into partridges in pear trees, or something. Or I could dress them up for Christmas with funny elf hats and pointy shoes! Add a fancy plume for a tail. Perhaps make them in bright jewel tones with gleaming beaded eyes. The possibilities are endless! |
