This year I joined a special interest group for beading with my EGA chapter, CyberStitchers. So far, I'd attended the "meetings," (online, that means reading the e-mail postings), taken plenty of notes, looked at beading websites, borrowed a beading book from the library, ordered a book on basic beading, and "Oooood" and "Ahhhhhd" over the completed pieces other members had done. But I hadn't attempted a beading project myself. Then I found several beaded bracelet kits on an auction site. They had an excellent starting bid, so I took a chance and bid on two. I put in the high bid on this kit. But it still took me over a month to get up the nerve to give it a try. Once I started, I was able to complete the bracelet in a mere four hours! The directions were fairly clear, though it would have been nice to have more explicit instructions on how to make loop knots. I followed the diagram, but I'm still not sure I got it just right. I'm pretty happy with the outcome. The knots that attach the stings to the clasp are a bit more visible than I'd like, and I think I need to learn to handle my tension a bit better. But overall, I'm quite pleased. My bracelet is light and pretty and sparkling. I just may take to this beading after all!
