Your first fold will be where the one thread was removed. By removing a single thread, the fabric is easier to fold because your fold line lies within the grain of the fabric.

Fold the fabric again until your first fold lies against the withdrawn area furthest from your stitching.

Do a hemstitch on this fold. Make sure your fold is toward the back of your stitching, so that the front of your stitching shows only a clean fold line but not the hem.
