Nun's Stitch; Trim Edges
Stitch a row of Nun's Stitch two grid spaces (equal to two stitches) away from the edge of the stitching. This stitch allows you to made a fringe that will not ravel the ground fabric too close to the stitching.

I form the stitch using a perle coton that is the same color as the fabric I'm stitching on. A contrasting thread can also be used to form a more distinctive border.

Next, trim the fabric so that all edges are an equal distance from the Nun's Stitch. I trimmed mine the distance of four stitches.
