Place your ribbon or completed stitchery on a piece of scrap paper. Above the ribbon, draw a simple shape with one continuous line (as shown) approximately the size of the finished bell pull hardware you want to make.
I decided to make my bell pull hardware extend beyond the width of the ribbon by 1/2 to 3/4 inch. This does not need to be a precise measurement, just an estimate. Using a measuring tape or ruler, measure the length of the complete continuous line. It might be easier to measure if you lay a piece of string on top of your line drawing, following the line. Then straighten out the string and measure it. |
