The pattern is called "Thoughts of You Nametag" by Thea Dueck for The Victoria Sampler. I got the chart free online at the Victoria Sampler website.
I'm not much of one for samplers (yet), so this was a trial project for me. I learned to do the Queen Stitch (the hearts) which was new for me. I also learned to do the four-sided stitch. This sampler also had herringbone and smyrna cross. I had learned these before, so it was good practice. I decided to stitch Susan's name in all caps instead of the lower case alphabet provided in the chart because when I stitched it that way at first, it was too hard to read. I did stitch it on a white evenweave (I forget which kind ... might even have been the recommended Belfast Linen). I used a veriagated floss for the hearts, so if it looks like they are going from dark to light — they are! The crosses under her name were done with some gold metallic — Balgar cord by Kreinik. It was the first time I'd stitched with that cord. The chart called for a few beads, but I got lazy and left them off. If you'd like to learn more about Queen Stitches, read my page in Needlework 101.
