I made a banner for the nuns at our parish. They are leaving for new jobs after being with us for eight years. These are two wonderful, wise, fun women, and I'll miss them terribly.
Sr. Roberta spent some time working in Africa and has wonderful stories to tell about her ministry days there. Both she and Sr. Rosemary are the kinds of people that can bring the best out of those they minister to and work with.
As soon as I saw these designs, I knew I'd be stitching them for the sisters some day. Their time of departure from our parish seemed like the perfect time.
The design depicts some African-inspired symbols for the words Harmony, Togetherness, Unity, Adaptability, Knowledge and Wisdom. The pattern can be found in the January 1998 edition of The Stitchery Magazine.
