I picked this design because I wanted a symbol of peace. Thus, the lion and the lamb. I loved this particular piece because the lion is holding the lamb, and standing with an angel. The three are singing their lungs out. I relish that image since I am a vocalist. The chart is called "Christmas Pillow" by Mary Engelbreit. I used just part of the chart, so that it would fit in the designated 5" x 5" design area allowed. I stitched it on a light pink Ainring Aida ground fabric with DMC 6-strand floss. The strings on the harp were stitched with DMC gold metallic #5282 gold (equals perle coton size 5), dividing the strand in half. This chart has quite a bit of backstitching in it to create the details of the facial features and musical instruments. There are also a number of partial stitches, so it would be easier to stitch on an evenweave. I did the backstitching as I went along to help me keep my place. The angel's gown is all done in half cross-stitch, so goes pretty quickly. But it is done with blended threads in the needle, and some of the color symbols were somewhat difficult to read. I ended up guessing on part of it -- even using my OTT light to decipher what the symbols were!
