Apples for the Teacher

Apples for the Teacher I stitched this little bookmark for my daughter's Kindergarten teacher. The design definately has a sense of humor! Check the bottom of the bookmark. It's a little hard to read, but says, "McIntosh Apple, Rome Apple, York Apple, Pineapple."

I stitched this one on a scrap of evenweave (might be linen) left over from another project. It's stitched with DMC cotton floss. Because it was such a small item, it took only about four hours to complete. I used my surger to finish off the raw edges on the sides with a rolled hem using wooly nylon thread. Then I fringed the top and bottom.

The project came from a book called "One-Hour Cross Stitch." The only thing slightly deceiving about the book's title is that you must realize that the "one-hour" is for each motif — not each project. For example, this bookmark has four motifs, so the entire project took about four hours to complete, not one hour. It's a beautiful book, with simple quick projects.
