Violets So Fair Bookmark
I stitched up this bookmark for my EGA Secret Sister in honor of her birthday. I found the chart in a new book I'd bought, and wanted to give it a try.

The chart is done entirely with cross-stitch and backstitch. It has lovely shading in the blossoms and leaves. I finished the edged with the nun's stitch using #12 white perle coton, then fringed the ends.

This bookmark is part of a set of violet-embellished items. Also included are a photo mat, some sachets, a handkerchief, and another type of bookmark set on a long ribbon. The only thing I really dislike about the chart is that it's in color (with symbols). I dislike color charts, but that's just my personal preference. I find them difficult to work from.

The book is quite lovely, though. I expect to stitch many other charts from it. Shall I grin and bear it?

If you'd like to learn how to make the nun's stitch, read the page in Needlework 101 called Nun's Stitch.
