Hardanger Motif

Hardanger Motif
A group of us AOLers wanted to give a special gift to one of our chat hosts, Jill, who has been leading a teaching chat for several years. We knew that she had just completed a Hardanger angel for the top of her tree. So we decided to each stitch her an ornament as our way of saying, "Thank you." The women sent the ornaments to me, and I boxed them all together to send to Jill in time for Christmas. She was happily surprised.

I adapted this ornament from a chart in a magazine. This is just one motif found in a large tablerunner. Since this was the first time I attempted a Handanger chart, I started with something simple.

If you'd like to get an overview of this technique, read my Needlework 101 page called Hardanger.
