Earth's Book Mark

Earth's Book Mark
I next stitched a couple gifts for a friend who was a great support to me over the last year. She is friends with two of my brothers in Southern California, but we met online. She was able to keep me informed of my brother Paul's health (Paul had cancer), when he did not let me know firsthand.

Earth's Book Mark is by Betsy C. Stinner of Earth Threads. This was a free chart found online. I liked the fact that it has the appearance of a sampler, but is all stitched with cross-stitch. The chart calls for Sampler Threads by the Gentle Art, but I didn't have any in my stash, so substituted with DMC floss.

I'm guessing that the color key has an error in it, and that the *star* symbol should be the gold, and the "solid box" symbol should be the green. If stitched as is, the leaves of the flower and plants are gold! Of course, I didn't realize this until I had the center motif completed! :: shrugging :: That's ok. It's still pretty.

The bookmark worked up quickly, and the muted colors were interesting to work with.

Here are the color choices I made:
triangle 791 (midnight blue)
oval 793 (blue jay)
cross 3350 (cherry wine)
star 783 (gold leaf)
box 522 (evergreen)
