September Birthday Faerie

September Birthday Faerie
I'd heard a lot about the Birthday Faeries by Barbara Baatz in the various newsgroups online. When I found the book at JoAnn Fabrics, I understood why. They are quite pretty. The wings have blending filament in them to make them shimmer. The overskirt has beads to add dimension and ornament.

I was able to stitch this piece without my daughter Julie finding out about it. I completed it in 13 days. It was a surprise for her on her 12th birthday.

If you'd like to learn more about how to use specialty fibers, read my Needlework 101 page called Metallics, Blending Filament and Rayon.
