Bluebird Peaches

I stitched Bluebird Peaches, a free chart from the folks at DMC. I gave this to my oldest brother for a birthday gift.

In October 1996, my oldest brother, Paul, was diagnosed with cancer. He lived in southern California; I live in north Idaho. I felt so very far away and unable to be of any help or support to him. So I decided to stitch something for him—every stitch a prayer.

Now, my brother was not much of one to appreciate needlework. But he did have a collection of fruit labels from various California companies. When I saw this Bluebird Peaches label, I knew that he could appreciate it. I finished it for his birthday in August.

Paul passed away in February, 1999. At that time, the Bluebird Peaches came back to me and now hangs in my kitchen.
