I fell in love with this design when I first saw it in a Cross Stitch and Crountry Crafts Catalog in, I believe, 1995. But I didn't really want a kit; I wanted the chart. But I could not find it anywhere, even after searching for over a year. I finally broke down and bought the kit. It came with the charted design, 14 count ivory aida, presorted 100% cotton floss and metallic thread, needle and directions in German, Spanish, French and English! I really did not want to stitch my angel on the aida, so then a search began for just the right fabric to match the light pink in the angel's wings. My needlework shop owner found a beautiful fabric, a 28 count Crystal Pink Annabelle. That was no easy feat, because that shade of Annabelle was being discontinued.
I was so thrilled that I had this piece finished in time for Christmas. My mom and I had a girl's day out in early December, getting our hair cut, eating lunch and talking. She helped me pick out the mat and frame that afternoon. It was the last girl's day out we had together. Mom died later that month, between Christmas and New Year's Day.
