De-Stunk Skunk

De-stunk Skunk
Over time, I found that one of the regular chatters at Stitch Chat was originally from the Northwest US. She and I had both stitched the same Serenity Prayer from Cross My Heart, and we had some other things in common. She told me a story about when she was a young girl living in Washington (state) and had a friend with a skunk for a pet—a skunk that had it's “spray” capabilities removed. She longed to move back to the Northwest, and have such a skunk for a pet. So, I obliged her by stitching her this De-Stunk Skunk.

This was really an excuse for attempting to stitch on perforated paper for the first time. I used four strands of floss ... which covered very well ... maybe too well. The thickness of the floss just about ripped the perforated paper! And the floss tails were very hard to tuck in. My color choices for the words on the brown background was not the best—it was very hard to read when completed. (The image here has had a bit of computer cosmetic surgery so that the words could be read!) The chart came from a book that was a hand-me-down from my mom.
