First Communion Bookmark
My daughter Julie received her First Communtion in May, 1995. I stitched this bookmark for her as a reminder of that day.

The design is my own, based on a greeting card from the "Pleasant Thoughts" collection by the Gibson Greeting Card company. Most of the design is stitched with DMC cotton floss, but the cross and the radiating beams are stitched with DMC 284z (otherwise known as "barbed wire on a spool"). This was the first time I used the metallic fiber. I found that using lengths no longer than 12 inches, and locking the fiber onto the needle helped make stitching with the metallic thread more managable.
