Rose Bell Pull

Rose Rose
I’ve come to the point where I like to stitch from charts rather than kits, but this was one kit that really caught my eye and I had to stitch it! Done on Fiddler’s Cloth, I found it interesting to stitch around the “twigs” in the fabric. No, there aren't really “twigs” in the fabric, but this cloth has a rough, country-ish texture. I stitched this piece in the hand rather than in a frame or hoop or Q-Snap just because it’s so long and I didn’t want to have to roll up any of the fabric I’d already stitched on.

This is the first bell pull I’ve attempted to stitch, and enjoyed it quite a bit. The kit came complete with the dowel and knobs/finials and gold cord on which it hangs. The tassel is made from floss left over after the stitching is completed. The finished piece measures 5” x 26-1/2” and hangs on a very narrow wall right next to my front door, so it’s a piece guests usually don’t notice until they are on their way out.

In 2004, I stitched a companion piece, Rose Pillow.
