After more than a year, I've finally framed and sent my daughter's wedding sampler to her! I began stitching the sampler shortly after Jeanne and Mathew were married in August 2007. Last September, Jeanne helped me pick out the colors of the fabric and floss. I got right to the stitching, and had it completed by September 23rd. By the end of the month, I'd even picked out a mat and frame that I thought might work. But then the project sat.
Finally, in the spring of 2008, I decided that my mat and frame choices were good enough. I chose a simple cobalt blue metal frame and a hunter green suede mat. I special ordered them. Purchased them. Brought them home. But then the project sat.
My next goal to get back on track? Have it framed and sent to them by their first anniversary at the end of August. That didn't get done either. How about ... have it done by the time they graduate from college in mid-September of this year? That didn't get done, either. Now, I was just kicking myself for putting it off. So I washed it. The blue thread bled! Arrrrgh! I washed it again with a sheet of Shout Color Catcher. That worked fairly well. Most of the bleeding color came out of the fabric. Finally, last weekend, I got the framing done. On Wednesday, I took it in to my quilt group for Show & Tell. Yesterday, I mailed it. So now, just over a year later, I'm posting the finished piece here in my gallery. [What an ordeal!] I really am pleased with the way it turned out.
