For those of you who follow my work, this piece might look awfully familiar. That's because I stitched it quite some time ago!

I decided I wanted to try some new-to-me finishing techniques in 2008. This is the first new technique I tried. It's called the No Sew Decorative Cube. I got the directions from In Stitches

I did make a few minor changes in the way I finished my cube. I used a purchased foam floral cube for the base, for one. I used hot glue instead of white glue. My feet are wooden balls that I painted with a base coat of the lighter blue, then sponge-painted the darker blue on top. I also added the extra little gold bows in the upper right-hand corner which are simply pinned in place.

By the way, this is a six inch cube. I bought a half yard of cotton fabric for the sides and back. That was plenty, and I have quite a bit left over.

Overall, it's a very easy finishing technique. I highly recommend trying this one. But because of the glue, I think it is more appropriate for smaller pieces that didn't require a lot of stitching than for larger more complicated pieces that a lot of time and energy went into.

:: cough cough ::
Well, at least energy!
This poor thing took a lot of time!
