Hearty Heart Heart

Our charity stitching group has a new challenge this year. Using the outline of a heart (pattern found at CyberStitchers), we get to fill it in with whatever design we like!

Since I don't much like working to deadlines, this is the ideal challenge for me. I still hope to stitch one quilt square per month for charity, but I don't need to get my completed heart squares in until early in 2009. So I can go at my own pace, rather than be concerned with finishing a square on time.

For my first heart, I decided to fill it with hearts! I found a cute free pattern on a French website and adapted it for my purposes. I like that it uses only two colors of floss (DMC 814 and 817). I started with Anne's basic pattern, then continued filling in the heart by adapting what she had done to fill my heart shape.

I think that these are going to be fun little projects. The hearts can be as simple or complex as I like. They can be geared toward children or teens or adults. They can be a theme (like holidays) or just whatever pops into my head to attempt!
