Bird House Card

Here's the fourth card I've made using the embroidery on paper technique.

This is the third card from the same kit as the Wedding Card and Tulip Card. The bird house doors were stitched much like the wedding rings. Then the gold borders are simple straight stitches.

I've taken a photograph of this card rather than scanning it in hopes that the gold metallic threads will show up a bit better than they did in the other cards I posted.

As you can see, the back of this card is extremely messy! The stitches are long, the thread carries, and there are bits of tape all over the place holding down the thread ends. I try to use the same piece of tape for beginnings and endings as much as possible, but there is still a lot of mess.

I wanted to show the back of the card so that other stitching high achievers out there will understand that sometimes it's darn near impossible to keep that back of your work neat.     :: grin ::

This is why it's necessary to cover up the back of the stitching with another piece of paper. The kit comes with lining papers for the cards. The finished result is quite professional.

I think I may use this card as a "Welcome to your new home" greeting, or perhaps for Spring.
