Suede Bookmark

One of the gals I know through a cross-stitch mailing list told us about a kit she purchased. It was a bookmark made of leather or suede with a spot where you put a piece of stitchery. I loved the idea and thought I might be able to replicate it.

So I bought a piece of suede from my favorite fabric store, Hancock Fabrics. They have a wide variety of colors. The fabric is 55 or 60 inches wide. I bought just six inches. (I can make a lot of bookmarks!)

Then I found this cute, very small freebie chart online.

I'm pretty pleased with the way it came out, and created a finishing slide show to share my technique with you.

This bookmark will be donated to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and given to one of the sick children there.
