French Horn Angel

French Horn Angel by Lorraine Birmingham
One of my online friends — lovingly known as "Dr. P." — has a 90+ year old mother living with her. Dr. P and her husband are building a new home, complete with a room just for Mum. The new home has 25 ft ceilings in the living room. Our group surmised that Dr. P is going to need a lot of new ornaments to fill up a 25 ft Christmas tree.

Unfortunately, Dr. P's Mum's health is failing. Mum loves angels. It turns out they have angels all over the house. So our group decided to stitch up some angel ornaments for Dr. P and her mum to hang on the tree this Christmas.

Dr. P is a musician and educator. Mum loves the color purple. So I put those two ideas together to stitch up an angel, playing an instrument, stitched on purple fabric.

I finished the ornament as a mini tuck. Then I decided to sew the stitching in place for security. If you'd like to learn how to do this finishing technique, check out the slide show Tuck Ornament in Cameo's Completions.

For Dr. P's Mum ... every stitch a prayer.
