I made this bookmark for my daughter's birthday. She enjoys fantasy stories and really likes dragons.
As a student, I figure she can use a sturdy bookmark on a regular basis. She's so far from home ... this will be a little reminder of Mom that she can carry around with her.
Jennifer Aikman-Smith has a whole series of free elemental dragons on her website. A gal in one of my groups had stitched the Dragon of Fire and I just loved it, so went searching for that pattern. I was pleasantly surprised to find this whole series of free charts.
I may just end up stitching all of them ... eventually.
To finish this bookmark, I pinned a strip of a blue calico print to the stitchery, right sides together.
I sewed the sides on my sewing machine.
I then turned the fabric tube right sides are out.
I folded the calico to the inside of the tube on the top and bottom.
I hand stitched the top and bottom in place using a running stitch with a single strand of floss.
Then I fringed the aida on the top and bottom.
