The Wallace Snowflake

The Wallace Snowflake by Connie Fudge
I'm not sure when I completed this ornament, but it was several years ago. When taking down the Christmas tree this year, I realized that I had never posted an image of this ornament on my site, so I'll do it now.

This ornament came from a kit designed by a gal in a neighboring EGA chapter. Her chapter was hosting a regional meeting which I attended. A workshop to learn to stitch this ornament was part of the weekend experience.

The ornament is stitched on two different colors of metallic perforated paper with some wonderful specialty fibers. The designers hometown of Wallace, Idaho is known for it's copper, silver and gold mining. In the winter, Wallace and the "Silver Valley of North Idaho" is a ski destination. The materials used in this ornament represent the metals and the snow the area is known for. The ornament uses a silver snowflake charm in the center.

Even though this ornament is made of perforated paper, it's held up remarkably well over the years.
