After completing a large project, it's good to do something small and quick that doesn't require a lot of counting! I bought this cute bookmark kit in a large lot of cross-stitch items on eBay. It arrived just as I finished Sewing Memories.

Fortunate timing!

Cute. Sweet. Fast. And surely there will be another birthday to celebrate with the St. George's Quilters next month. I might as well have my gift ready.

I finished the edge of this bookmark with the Nun's Stitch, rather than just with fringe as directed in the kit. I used some DMC 471 Light Green that matched the leaf floss in the kit to create the border. If you'd like to learn how to make the Nun's Stitch, read the page in Needlework 101 called Nun's Stitch.
