Hardanger Christmas Ornament

Hardanger Christmas Ornament
Our new stitch-along (SAL) ornament group in Cyberstitchers is very active this week. Lots of discussion tends to breed lots of effort. So I decided to finish up this little ornament.

If it looks at all familiar, it may be because this was originally a doodle cloth that I stitched up in 2000 as part of my Monogram Lace Hardanger Sachet kit. The kit came with a "starter kit" that helped me learn some of the basics of Hardanger including kloster blocks, wrapped bars, picots and dove's eye and learning to do the cut work.

When I was going through my old charts to decide what I wanted to purge and sell in Cameo's Clutter, I found the little doodle cloth. I thought it would make a sweet, simple ornament. So I added my name and date on the bottom of my ornament, then found some coordinating fabric scraps to back the cutwork. I then used a piece of blue and white calico for the back of the ornament, using pinking shears on the edges. I simply sewed it together on my sewing machine, sandwiching a ribbon between the layers for a hanger. I then stuffed it with some fiberfill.
