Butterfly Fantasy

Butterfly Fantasy by Alice Okon
I adapted this bookmark design from a border for linens. The original pattern had five butterflies, but that would have made for an awfully long bookmark. I picked my four favorite butterflies and stitched them.

The chart called for black backstitching and butterfly bodies. I thought that was too stark, so I substituted DMC 3371. It's a brown/black color that looks a little softer.

This will be a birthday gift for one of the ladies in my quilt group.
