Ski Moose Christmas Ornament

Ski Moose by Calico Crossroads
This is the second in a series of ornaments I picked up while on vacation in Alaska in 2001. I stitched it one evening while waiting for my kids to come home from a concert at school.

The chart is printed on a salmon-colored paper in black ink. The symbol for the moose body is shaded and dark. So the backstitching lines barely show up on the chart. I had to do quite a bit of guesswork to figure out the backstitching for the head, eyes, "arms" and legs.

My kids like this one. They say he looks like he's skiing on a candy cane.  :)

I used a scrap of 14ct ivory aida that was in my stash, along with the same colors of floss used in the previous Moose ornament.

I finished the ornament with a Christmas calico fabric backing, a ribbon hanger, and cording made of green 4-ply yarn. It's stuffed with polyester fiberfill.
