This is the fifth in a series of ornaments I picked up while on vacation in Alaska in 2001. It depicts the Russian Cathedral in Sitka, Alaska. When this portion of Alaska was under Russian rule, Sitka was the capital.
Unfortunately, I was in Sitka for only a very short time. I did see the church from the outside while on a bus tour, but did not get to look inside. That seems like a good enough excuse to visit Alaska again! :)
This time I used a piece of 25ct white Lugana from my stash. I'll use the same scrap for the next ornament in the series.
Stitched June 6 - 19, 2002.
