A Mouse?

A Mouse? by Dimensions
I found this cute kit in a half price bin at my local needlework shop. I just love the goofy expression on the cat's face. I didn't really have anyone in mind to stitch it for when I bought it.

But my oldest daughter has just gotten through an emotionally rough year, and she came out of it like a champ. I'm very proud of her. So I stitched this up as a little congratulations gift for her as she enters her senior year in high school.

I like stitching on perforated plastic for a change of pace, even though it does mean I need to alter my stitching style a bit. The plastic does not allow me to use the sewing method of stitching, so I resorted to the poke method. That made this little project take a bit longer than I'd anticipated. But since I was not working to a deadline, that didn't really matter much.

The finishing instructions in this kit tell you to GLUE the paw print to the wire, and the cat to the sign! Ack! I didn't much like that idea. So I simply stitched the cat to the sign using yellow floss so that the stitching would blend in with the sign's background. And I just poked wire through the holes in the perforated plastic to attach the paw print to the wire.
