Round Robin

Round Robin -- over two
In the first week of March I attended my very first stitcher's getaway. This one is called A Stitcher's Retreat and was held at Skamania Lodge in the Columbia River Gorge. A gorgeous setting. The retreat was organized by Randy Turner (Cecilia's husband) and conducted by the members of the design firm, The Trilogy:

  • Ruth Sparrow from Twisted Threads
  • Cecilia Turner of Heart in Hand
  • Marsha Worley (Sissy) and Elizabeth Newlin from Bent Creek

The retreat was great fun, the setting wonderful, the food to die for. I had classes from each of the teachers, including one for this project by The Trilogy called Round Robin. All the designers had a hand in designing part of this chart, and they each taught the part of the chart they designed.

  • Round Robin -- over one
I finished stitching this piece shortly after the retreat was over. In fact, I was able to stitch it twice — both over two and over one. The image above was stitched on 32ct clay linen over two. The image to the side was stitched on the same linen, but one-over-one — petit point.

The design is mostly cross-stitch, but also includes a square eyelet as the "hole" in the birdhouse, and satin stitches in the bird's wing.

This exclusive class kit included enough cute little buttons for the "over two" version. I'll have to find some more buttons to complete the smaller piece. I plan on finishing the over one piece as a scissors fob, and the over two piece as an ornament.

To learn more about stitching over one, read my page in Needlework 101 called Petit Point — Over One.
