Ho Ho Ho

Ho Ho Ho by Heart In Hand
I was tired of making tassels for my correspondence course, so I decided to stitch up a quickie Christmas ornament from the new (2001) Better Homes and Gardens Cross-Stitch Christmas magazine (page 21).

This one is called HoHoHo by Cecilia Turner of Heart in Hand. The finished size is more like a door hanger than a small tree ornament.

I used some 14ct aida from my stash instead of the 28ct linen called for in the pattern. I used two shades of felt from my stash for the backing instead of the synthetic suede called for. I also decided to finish it with a little stuffing between the stitching and the fabric so it's puffy. I made a monks cord for the hanger from the DMC 502 (lighter green) used in the design.

I gave this finished piece to a fellow stitcher in an online Christmas exchange at the end of the year.
