Gardener Moose | ||||||||||||||

I have several of these moose charts, including Chris-Moose (December, with Christmas lights in his antlers), Fall-Moose (Malcolm is raking leaves), and Stitching Moose (Mandy is doing some embroidery). I chose Gardener Moose (May 1998) to stitch for my best friend's birthday gift this year. Virginia loves to play in the dirt and make things grow. I finished it as one of those small pillows where you just tuck the stitching into the pillow border. I made the pillow myself, rather than buying one of the pre-made ones at the stitch shop. I was able to find a good garden/plant print that complimented the stitchery. I added some piping to the pillow, which was a bit of a trick. (I didn't think to take a photo of the finished pillow). I made the pillow just part of her gift. I also added a flower urn, some seeds, gloves and gardening tools. I even included a small plastic pail and shovel for the little boy that Virginia is nanny to.
