In between working on my second (complicated) project for the upcoming stitching retreat, I stitched another small project, this fall bookmark. I gave this to one of the ladies in my quilt group. I was teasing her unmercifully, and wanted to give this to her as a gesture to let her know I really value her.
The design is actually one I adapted from a bread cover pattern. As you know, bread covers are usually stitched on a corner, but I only needed a border. So I split the chart in half, and added a doo-dad on the end so that both the top and bottom of the design are curvy.
I decided to use some varigated floss for the leaves, and two strands of floss for the backstitching (it called for only one). I stitched this on some banding — first time I've used that ground fabric — nice! Basically, I wanted a fast project that looked good without much fuss. I like the way it turned out.
