Tassel with Chinese Knotting

Tassel with Chinese knotting Chinese knot detail
After experimenting with both a square knot and a cross knot, I decided to use the cross knot. I'm very pleased with the result. This was another new technique for me to learn.

The wraps on the cord tended to loosen as I worked with the knot, so I had to fiddle with the wraps a bit to get them to cover the white cord again. I like the back of the knot even more than the front.

I had to get innovative with attaching the hanging cord to the tassel head. I added extra wraps at the crown. I like the formal look of this tassel.

This is a six inch tassel made of 4-ply acrylic yarn. The collar is made with two shades of green crewel wool yarn. The covered cord for the knotted hanger is made with the same green crewel wool yarn in four shades. The cord is about 18 inches long (before knotting).
