Ribbon tassels can be used for decoration almost anywhere, but might be best used where they don't get handled a lot. Much handling can make some satin ribbons fray.

The length of the tassel will be determined by the width of the ribbon. The 1/16" double-sided satin ribbon called for in the instructions has a lot of body and good memory, so it holds its shape well over time. I found the ribbon a little unruly to work with, but the finished product is pretty.

It was a bit hard to locate the narrow 1/16" satin ribbon. I think a slightly longer tassel could easily be made from 1/8" ribbon (which is much more easy to find). This is a 2 inch tassel. I decided to make the collar from cotton floss. This little tassel is sweet.
