The Bookshelf
Book Reviews and Magazine Index

I love books! Especially needlework books. My own shelves overflow with needlework books and leaflets. In this section I'll review some of my favorite titles. If you want to buy a copy, just click and purchase it through Amazon.com, the world's largest bookstore.

In addition to great needlework books, I also have a favorite needlework magazine. I've subscribed to Stitcher's World from its premiere issue in 1995 (at that time it was called The Stitchery magazine). It's got great designer profiles, clear charts, a humor column and lots of good information about needlework gadgets, gizmos, products and shows.

I've kept a running index of the magazine on my computer for easy reference. If I remember seeing a chart that would be "just perfect" for a special occasion, I open my index, do a search, and can easily go find the issue I'm looking for. I've now decided to share this index with other stitchers who love the magazine.

Cross Stitch Magazine Database
Here's a great resource for you magazine lovers. It's a resource for locating designs published in various cross-stitch magazines.
Note from Cameo: This database is GREAT! I'd been searching for a particular chart for a couple years now. I saw an image of it online in a stitcher's gallery, but didn't know the designer. I checked this magazine database by subject, and found the chart! Not only that, I learned I have the magazine in my stash already!!!
